Migrant birds in Sri Lanka

Migrating birds are one of the main components of global biodiversity. Seasonal migrations often fly many thousands of miles long. Birds migrate for various reasons and Sri Lanka is one of their best destination. Around 203 seasonal ground and water migratory birds that moves from Northern winter travelling from as far as Siberia, Scandinavia and Western Europe to Sri Lanka. The season of their visit here is August /September and leaving around April/May.
